AM - Similar Product Research - History

Indie rock or indie folk has been around since 1980-90's the term "indie" meant indpendent , and being a independent artist or band ment that you werent signed to a record label. This terms still applies today but only to really small record labels who don't receive large budgets for equipment compared to big labels,  this term now has a lot of different meanings the term can refer to an acoustic based artist which is now the main term of indie , technically when starting off as a artist this is correct but when they become famous the term sticks and is no longer valid. And this is how everyone knows the term "indie" and the people who listen to the genre assume that indie is actually a genre which by so may acoustic artists coming into the charts it nearly has just by word of mouth. And my personal opinion of indie rock and indie folk is that its genre or its style are not going to change ,neither will the star image  and neither will the huge fan base. The reason that it has such a huge fan base is that every year a couple new acoustic artists will come into the charts they will gain a fan base, then as their careers go on they will collaborate with other artists of totally controversial genres such as rappers, EDM producers etc. because the artist feels the need to push themselves to become more famous by having their "feat" or partnerships fan based added to their own. By doing this numerous times they develop as an artist and branch off from their original label of "indie rock" into something completely different and by doing then leaves space for a brand new "indie rock" artist to step into the lime light to finish off the circle.  Also the artist will also find them self being the "feat" which most of the time will just be some vocals, a good example of a few artists that were originally indie rock/indie folk are Taylor Swift, Miley Cyrus and Paramore (Hayley Williams) these artists to date now all sound different as a artist then when they first started, other artists such as Ed Sheeran and Avril Lavigne are examples off artists who have done songs with rappers but the tone of the music hasn't changed yet.
